About me

I have been in the financial services industry for most of my decades-long career.  I know it in my bones.

I started working in the Canadian retail banking industry in my teens, and know the industry from the front lines dealing with clients in almost every position, including management.

Even as a Junior Supervisor, I identified changes to procedures and technology that grew a $2 million dollar client into a $12 million dollar client in the space of a few years, and helped the client become an industry leader in their field.

I also have a solid track record in making the internal operations of financial institutions work more effectively, and improve customer service along the way.  In fact, early in my career, the company actually invented an award to recognize the sheer volume of work simplification ideas I presented.  And I've never stopped.

I *love* finding ways to do things better and improve service and quality.

That experience gave me the edge when I started developing training programs for a new, innovative, company-wide banking system.  And I delivered those programs in major centres across Canada - with great success.

My detailed know-how also helped in the many years I spent in the Operations area of an international bank - Citibank.  I improved service standards that earned me two Service Eexcellence Awards, a Branch of the Year Award and instituted a company wide service excellence program.

Unlike most other writers, I have a solid track record in knowing how to sell to potential clients by listening clearly to their needs, and knowing how to identify and explain the financial products that best meet their needs.  In addition to great client feedback, I received numerous sales awards and recognition.

I have a solid track record in business analysis too.  For example, I worked with a trust company to identify and clearly document the fundamental business requirements for their retail operations.  The focus was in creating business requirements that stood the test of time, regardless of computer system used.

This meant that the final users of the technology had a clear understanding of what they were expecting of their computer systems, and why.

What this means for you

My extensive, broad experience means that I can provide internal documentation as well as marketing copy and content that supports the needs financial services companies.  And I can bring meaningful clarity to the marketing and documentation required for  technology companies that work with financial institutions.
